Served in the Mexican War as a Private in Company E Mounted Infantry Regiment Arkansas Infant ry. Captain Pike's Approximately June of 1846 to June 1847.

Elias also served with Company I 19th Texas Infantry. This was a trans-Mississippi organizat ion that was in and around Texas, Arkansas, and Lousiana. He fought at the Red River Campaig n.
