Note for: Charles Smith, 1798 - 1868 Index
[CharlesSmith.ftw.FTW]
The Charles Smith family is clearly confirmed by the 1850 and 1860 White
County Census. He also appears in records as early as 1820 in White Co.
However in 1870 he dissapears from the White Co. record. Either he has
passed away or has moved back to Greene Co. He owned property in White
Co. that was valued at $800 in 1850. This tract of land occurs where the
White Co. Farmers Co-op is located near Sparta, TN. It bordered the creek
that flowed into the Calfkiller River. The corner of the land between the
Herd Family and the Smith family was set aside as the Herd-Smith
Cemetary. It still remains today.
