    • Research of Linda Smith Cheek

James and wife are buried at the Ellison-Wilson Family Cemetery, Colonial Dr., Brushy Creek Rd. Anderson Co SC, just across the Pickens Co line. His tombstone was broken many years ago and a new one was erected in 1979 by descendants and the death date is wrong. Others buried with stones that could be read are" Mary E. Ellison b. 10 July 1872 d. 28 Dec 1874--James Prather b. 6 Nov 1856 d. 2 July 1857--11 rocks marking graves. In 1996 a housing development was built around this cemetery and most all destroyed except the stone of James Ellison. Before this project you could see the old marks of wagon tracts around the knoll where the cemetery was. By Linda Smith Cheek
