Smith DNA Group R-M269-43 Gabriel Smith b 1764 Anson Co NC > Carroll Co GA

Smith DNA Matched Group GRP-R-M269-43

discussion of the Smith Official DNA Project group R-M269-43 that includes lineages that we believe all match together, even when the specific paper trail linkages between ancestors are unknown or cannot be proven.

Gabriel Smith was born Dec 12, 1764 at Anson Co NC and died in 1841 at Carroll Co, GA. He married Anna Sarah Downs. Holloway (probably Oliver) Smith b c 1847 GA, Curtis (has an extremely good match although it hasn’t been determined what the Smith match is). Theory, unproven, that Gabriel’s father is John “Little River” Smith, needs proof; The descendants of Christopher Smith  ENG>VA do not match this group

My brother's Curtis match (descendant of John Douglas Curtis, b. 1794-NPE) is in this group with very close match which varies by 1 marker in 37.  It would be great to have others descended from Gabriel Smith and John "Little River" Smith to at least 67 markers to see if the match holds.

For the Smith Official DNA Project (All Locations) a minimum of 25, or better, 37 YDNA markers, is strongly recommended. Many times one can appear to match other kits but the match falls apart after 12 markers. We do not attempt to match kits into groups on less than 25 with the exception of a strong paper trail or known family kinship with another tester.
