Will of Jacob Smith - Page County, VA 28 Sep 1831; proved 28 May 1850
I Jacob Smith of the County of Page and the State of Virginia do hereby make my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say I give and bequeath to my son John Smith his heirs and assignes forever, one half of the several tracts of land lying on Dry Run in said County of Page which were conveyed to me by Frederick Decious by Deed of Bargain and Sale duly recorded in the County Court of Shenandoah to which reference may be had that dividing line to be drawn throught the middle of the said lands (taken as a consolidated tract) and my said son John A. Smith the upper end.
2. I give and bequeath unto my son Abram Smith his heirs and assignes forever the other half being the lower end ot the mentioned land which I purchased of Decious ___ it being understood that each of said sons John & Abram are to pay out of their lands aforesaid for my grandchildren, the issue of my dec'd daughter Elizabeth Comer the sum of $100 to be divided equally amoung them as they become of lawful age.
3. I give and bequeath unto my son Noah Smith the plantation or tract of land whereas I now reside lying on the Big Hawksbill Creek in said County of Page being the same tract of land which was conveyed to my by Martin Comer which tract of land is ____ was? enjoyed by my said son Noah, his heirs and assigns forever upon his paying to my grandchildren the ____ ____ of my said daughter Elizabeth Comer herein before named the sun of Two hundred dollars to be equally divided between them as they arrive at lawful age.
4 thly and Lastly I give and bequeath ____ to my three sons herein before named their heirs and assigns to be equally divided between them my several tracts of land lying in the head waters of the Big Hawksbill on the Blue Ridge in the said county of Page being the same tract of land upon which I formerly resided and which was conveyed to my by James McAllister in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I do hereby revoke all other former wills and Testaments by me heretofor made. For Testimony where of I have accounts set my hand and affirmed my seal this 28 th day of September in the year 1831. Codicil - It is my desire that my personal estate after my just debts and funeral expenses are paid shall be equally divided between my three sons vix. John, Abraham & Noah in anyway which may suite them after my decease. In witness whereof I hereby set my hand and seal.

Will proved - 28 May 1850 by F. W. G. Thomas Recorded

At a court held for Page County on Monday the 22nd of April 1858.
A writing presenting the Will of Jacob Smith dec'd with a codeicil was produced in court and partly proven by the oaths of Edward Almond and Mann Almond witnesses thereto and the codicil was fully proven.  And it appearing to the court that F. W. G. Thomas witness to said will resides out of this Commonwealth ____ in the city of Boonville in the state of Missouri. On the motion Noah Smith the administration with the will annexed (?) - a commission is awarded to be directed to any notary public, Mayor of Boonville or other person authorized to talke(?) and certify the attestation of the said witness. And on the motion of Noah Smith who ____ ____ ____ with John Smith and Samuel Comer his security enter into and acknowledged as bond on the penalty of $200. Conditional as the ____ ____ ____ is granted him for obtaining letters of administration. Teste:  Clerk of Court
