Need the following. At one point it was considered that the ancestor of Gulilemus Smith (Gulilemus probably another name for William) who died in Granville CO NC was a David Thomas Smith m Elizabeth Farrar. However, I can't find a source document for that marriage,. Second, in a lot of the documents examined for David Smith m Elizaeth Ragsdale in Louisa Co VA, can't find a reference to Gulielmus being a son, again, need a source.
One of the YDNA testers has his line from David Smith m Elizabeth Ragsdale and matches with Gulielmus. Would like any researchers for the David Smith/Sarah Hester line that went to Granville NC to weigh in, and if you have done a YDNA or autosomal DNA test, please join the Smith DNA Project at FamilyTreeDNA. The basis for this being a son of David Smith/E Ragsalde is partly on a deed dated 8 Oct 1770 of Mecklenburg VA to John Smith of Louisa Co VA. However, this may be an entirely different David Smith, needs proof
Encountered the name Guililemus Smith again, a son of James Smith of Spotsylvania Co VA . May have a connection with Augustine Smith of Spotsylvania Co as he appears in a court action in 1833 agianst Gulilemus and James Smith regarding James Smith d 1819 will. Taht parrticular Gulielmus apparnetly, according to his nephew Madison Smith, did not have children.
Anyway, this group was formed becasue of the YDNA matches between a significant number of the group members. If you know of how some of the others who are not connected match up, also please comment.
