New autosomal group for Reuben Smith b 1804 NC m Margaret Tygart. The main line is here, with potential YDNA lines showing. https://www.smithsworldwide.org/tng/descendtextYDNA.php?personID=I24064&tree=tree1&generations=4 Two known descendants that match, what is needed as well to anchor this Smith is a male YDNA tester of this Smith descent. As a side note, found a few people who had trees on their match list that definitely belong in this autosomal group, and have invited them to join the project.

Updated 6/30/2021. Have a YDNA tester (R-M269) for this line, results back show that Ransom D (I-P37) is not related.
What is interesting is that in 1830 Marion Co TN, there are two Reuben Smiths of about the same age. Calling them Reuben #1 and Reuben #2

Reuben #1 presumably would fall into matched Group for I-P37, line from Guilelmus Smith b c 1735 NC d bef 1814 in Warren Co NC Son Ransom D Smith, who is also a DAR Rev War Patriot, # A106697, born 1761 Hanover County, Virginia, d 1854 Powells Crosswords, Marion Co TN, buried in Teague Cemetery in Marion Co TN, married Elizabeth Moss or Morse.
Reuben #1 was born 5 Apr 1804 NC (Granville?) d 15 Aug 1884 Sulphur Springs, Marion Co TN. Wife Sarah Hollingsworth b 1803 MD d 1876 Washington County, Tennessee. Married in 1821 in Campbell County, TN, Anchor census record is 1850 Marion Co TN which shows Reuben, Sarah, William, Martha, Lucretia, Thomas, Elmus, and James Hollinsworth (14). Same family in 1860 in Marion Co TN. Before that, there are 2 census records for this Reuben in 1830 and 1840 Marion Co TN.    the one with 1 m under 5 1 m 5-9, 1 m 20-29 1 f under 5 and 1 f 20-29 is Reuben #1. Another factor leading to believing this would match I-P34 is that one of his children is named Elmus.

Reuben #2 b c 1804 NC d 15 Aug 1884 Scranton, Logan Co AR. Using the 1850 census as an anchor point, he appears with wife Margaret, chidlren Allen, Hiram, Josiah, Mary, Margaret, Ann in Hamilton County, Tennessee. He is also on the 1840 Hamilton Co TN. Wife Margaret Tygart Smith died in Hamilton Co TN in 1857;. Reuben remarried Nancy Surguine and is found in the 1860 and 1870 Johnson Co AR census, then 1880 Logan Co AR. We have a YDNA tester from this line where the haplogroup is R-M269. I think the one with 1 m 20-29, 1 f under 5, 1 f 20-29 is Reuben #2. Another reason for this being THIS Reuben is that Margaret Tygart's parents are also found in 1830 Marion Co TN.
It appears that some of the Smiths in 1830 Marion Co TN and 1840 Hamilton Co TN went to Mack Cove, Walker County, Georgia by 1850. These included, as seen in 1850 Mack Cove, Ambrose Smith, Moses Smith, and Burwell Smith. Also of interest is that John Tygart and wife Eve are in 1850 Mack Cover, Walker Co GA before showing back up in 1860 in Marion County, Tennessee. These are sons of Moses Smith b c 1770 NC d 1855 Walker Co GA m Patience Boyett. Moses Jr went to Johnson County, Arkansas; and son Ambrose Smith went to Logan Co AR; Note that Reuben #2 is found in 1860 and 1870 in those locations. We would benefit from having a known male Smith descendant of Moses to compare.

These cannot be the same Reuben Smiths.
