In particular would like a male Smith descendant of Joshua that can prove his line back, but if you have done autosomal DNA for anyone that is a descendant, please come join the Smith DNA Project. Would like to prove, through DNA, the theory that this particular Joshua (also called Joshey) is related to Christopher Smith b 1591 England. The Glazeners were in Maryland, and Buncombe County, North Carolina. The family includes children Christopher R Smith, Ambrose Joshua Smith, George Smith, Aaron Smith, Jesse Smith, Isaiah Smith, William M Smith, Charles Leander Smith and Andrew Jackson Smith.
Also possibly John L Smith b 1817 Georgia m Mary Ann Holmes. Mary Ann Holmes was daughter of Gideon Holmes/Rachel Camp, in 1850 Habersham County, Georgia. Sister of Mary Ann Holmes, Rhoda Sophia Holmes married Jesse Smith, son of the Joshua Smith, above. There is apparently a deed that shows both Jesse and John on the same document.
Son of Christopher R Smith b 1804 NC, John Bunyan Smith was in Mill Springs, Wayne County, Kentucky in 1870, as was, apparently, the children of the above John L Smith.
Need a source reference to prove that John L Smith was a son of Ambrose, and also DNA testers to start proving out these lines. Have put John L Smith as a son of Joshua Smith due to the 1830 Rabun County GA census, which according to Vivian L, lines out like this.
Males under 5 are 3 - My grid has Ellander, Andrew Jackson, Charles
Males 5-9 are 3 My Grid has William, Isiah, Henry
Males 10-14 are 1 John L.
Males 15 -19 are 2 My Grid Jesse, Aaron
Males 20-25 are 1 Ambrose Joshua Jr
Males 60-69 are Joshua
Females under 5 – Drucilla
Females 15-19 Rebecca
Females 20-49 Anna Glazener
I have taken a 111 Marker YDNA Test (Kit 350552) and through test data comparisons to Brooke Smith and others, I believe that I am descended from a brother of this Ambrose Joshua Smith. Although not 100% certain, I believe that my ancestor was Rucker Mauldin, a bastard child of Christopher Smith (1760-1804) and his wife Mary Mauldin’s sister, Elizabeth. Elizabeth never married and gave Rucker her last name.
I also have taken Autosmoal DNA tests through FTDNA and 23andMe. My tree is on myheritage.com and also on wikitree (Mauldin-688).
