My mother-in-law has half a dozen DNA ties to Ambrose Joshua Smith and his wife Judith Ann Spann.  Most ties are two descendents of their sons John and Nathan.  Her link to this family would be through Susannah Smith, born 1723 in NC.  The issue is that the list of children given here doesn't include a Susannah.  Does anyone have any document to indicate which of the children listed here are actually tied to this couple?  Because my mother-in-law has another DNA tie to John Spann Jr. and a couple other Spann's, I'm inclined to believe that Susannah is a child in this family.  Any insight on this would be appreciated.

I am DAR member. Doing research. Here is what I found. Ambrose Joshua Smith (1703-1758
)  married Judith Spann.  VA -- NC.  Both were killed  by Indians around 1758 or thereabouts NC.  They owner lands next to the Saxon famlly in VA and NC. Joshua and Judith had daughter named Judiith.  Almost Nothing written about her.  BUT she is the wife of Capt Charles Saxon 1734-1816).  Her name is merely listed as Judith in his many land deeds.  But they had a kid named Ambrose Joshua Saxon.  Charles and Judith Jr, had a child named Tabitha Saxon who married Moses Guyton. Also a child named Lewis Saxon and others.  Rogers, Mc Nees. etc. So if your DNA goes thru Guyton or Saxon or Rodgers or McNees and you are perplexed. check out the Charles Saxon and Moses Guyton trees.  The DNA for female runs thru Judith Spann jr.

Never a bomb. This whole project is based on trying to figure out errors and true lines of descent. If someone is wrong in who they believe is the early ancestor, and that can be proven, it's a g....read more.....
