- Her name is spelled differently on almost every source. On the 1850 Hardin Co. KY census Roxann is 2 years old. (b.y. 1848). On the 1860 Union Co., KY census a 13 yr old Roxana (b.y. 1847) is living with a Jno (presumed John) Lefler and E. J. (presumed Edna Jane) On 1870 Union County, KY census 24 year old J.R. Dill (b.y 1846) is married to 22 year old Roxanna Dill (b.y.1848) and they have a daughter, Hatty who is 1 year old. (b.y. 1869) Edna Lefler, possible mother of Roxie is on the page before them. 1880 Spottsville, KY, Listed as Ann HILL with Jonas HILL. They are both 34 yrs (b.y. 1846) In 1900 Roxanna is with “Jona” Dill in Henderson CO and says she was born in May of 1840. In 1910 Roxie Dill is living with her daughter, Lillie Crister in Evansville, IN. and claims she is 62 and born in Indiana. (b.y. May 1847) On 1920 census, son, Nathan DIll lists Kentucky as birthplace of his mother. On her death certificate, 1923 with information provided by her son, Nathan R., it says her parents were Robert Lifler and Elizabeth Palles. Her name is spelled Roxey. Her year of birth is listed as 1844. Death certificate of her son, William, 1934 says her name was Roxiana Lefter. Her granddaughter, Juanita, (Aunt Nee) remembers little about Roxie. In a May 2003 email from Aunt Nee’s son, Bill Agnew, he says, “Roxie lived with them in Basket several summers. She said Roxie was short and fat and would smoke a corn cob pipe on their front porch. She had to have a brand of tobacco called "Red Cap". Roxie must have been a little weird. She said when someone came to visit the Dill family, Roxie would face the wall. She thought that if she couldn't see the person or persons, then that person couldn't see her either. “, , , , , , , , , ,
