  Land deed to George Smith c 1720 in Halifax Co NC See Linda Cheek's book "Smith Wills, Deeds and Family Histories" p 211. "George and Rebecca Smith, natives of Ireland, settled in Edgecombe Co NC about 1750. They had one son Willis, who married about 1770. Willis served in the Revolutionary War from the beginning, dying in a hospital from wounds received from the Tories after 1778. He served in General McIntosh's Regiment, 6th North Carolina company. Willis had one son Millington Smith b 1773. After the death of his father, Millington and his mother migrated to Tennessee, Stewart Co. Millington Smith m Barbara Barton here in 1799.
