  I kind of question the proof offered for Wm. Smith DAR (md. Agnes). I have three DAR record copies, all submitted by same person (Effie Gwynn McClure). She has as “proof”, “the name of William Smith appears upon a “list of associators returns of Frederick Co MD dated 1775.....” and a couple of other mentions of William Smith. I’m convinced there were several other William Smiths in Frederick Co at the time, so who knows if her Wm. Smith in application is the same as the Wm. Smith in her proof of service. Wm.’s will mentions son Philip Smith. Applicant also listed children with one being Philip Smith bapt Apr 16 1759. That date does fit in with Philip D Smith’s pension record when he mentions he was born April last...etc. I have his pension record. -Jomello
