AS A SIDE NOTE: I have a documented William Ruffin Smith m Susan Evans in the database http://www.smithsworldwide.org/tng/g...493&tree=tree1 who has a son Richard H Smith, same dates and proven census records to that point. Another reference from collection at UNC http://www2.lib.unc.edu/mss/inv/s/Sm...am_Ruffin.html According to that info, William Ruffin Smith’s father was William Ruffin Smith 1779-1846 who married Sarah Walton Norfleet. So Richard H Smith of the line above and William Ruffin Smith Jr were brothers.
